#481 FDC from Malaysia
An FDC from Malaysia, sent by Khor Kok Keong from Ipoh, Perak.
The FDC commemorates 750 years since the founding of Melaka, which grew into a maritime empire and international trading center. Now Melaka is one of the most developed states in Malaysia where tourism plays a significant role. The FDC features two mosques: the modern floating Straits of Melaka Mosque and the ancient Kampung Hulu Mosque. On the FDC, Khor affixed two stamps: one of them show the Cheng Hoon Teng Temple and the other shows the Kampung Hulu Mosque. The special commemorative cancel depicts a sail ship as Melaka was a huge trading center in the past. The postmark date is 7 October 2012 and the location is Ipoh, the state capital of Perak.
This is the back of the FDC. It feautures the Cheng Hoon Teng Temple and the Governor’s Mansion which now houses the Governors of Melaka Museum.
This is the pamphlet that contains details of the issue.
Thank you very much Khor for this FDC!
