My first postcard from Vietnam! This one is from postcrosser Jo who sent it for North America meets the World RR in postcrossing forum.
It shows a lady on a trishaw loaded with bananas in Ho Chi Minh City! I visited Ho Chi Minh City in summer 2010 and the place is fantastic! I always plan my own trip without joinig any travel package – it’s a bit difficult but you got the feeling that it’s a real adventure for you! The language is a bit of a problem but I am amazed at the honesty of the people. I still remember once I was caught in rain near the War Museum and a security officer came and lend me an umbrella. As we arrived at the museum entrance, I took out some change to give it to him as a tip and it ended up that I was being scolded by him that this is corruption and it’s his duty to offer assistance! It’s very interesting to know how did the government managed to educate the population such that a low rank officer himself rejects tips!
At the back, Jo affixed two stamps and a cute Hello Kitty sticker. The first stamp features frangipani and the second stamp shows the martial art Taekwondo. The postmark date is 17 November 2012 and the location is Saigon, the old name of Ho Chi Minh City before the unification. Thank you Jo!
